My Visit To Wolds Wildlife Park
If you are a regular reader of my Staycations In The UK Blog, then you will know that I love Zoos. I have been to lots of zoos in the UK and even a zoo in Benidorm. So, when I got the opportunity to do a Wolds Wildlife Park review, I jumped at the chance. However, I thought Wildlife Park, Lincolnshire, really?
I must be honest. I didn’t know there was a wildlife park in Lincolnshire. It seems I’m not alone. On my way to Wolds Wildlife Park, I stopped at a seaside resort called Mablethorpe, which is near Skegness. It’s about 22 miles away from the Lincolnshire wildlife park. I asked some holidaymakers, and some local people if there was a wildlife park near me. I asked 20 people in total, and only eight of them knew there was. Sadly, only one of them was local.
With the lack of awareness about the Wolds Wildlife Park, lots of young children and families are missing out. So, if you live near Horncastle, in areas such as Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes, Boston, and Skegness, and you are reading this, then I hope you are now aware you have an amazing zoo in Linolnshire.
There are lots of wildlife parks in the UK, all of them different sizes. As someone once said, bigger does not always mean better. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park may not be one of the biggest wildlife parks in the country, but to me, it’s one of the best.
About Wolds Wildlife Park
Wolds Wildlife Park, Lincolnshire, is one of the newest wildlife parks in the UK. It’s located in Horncastle, Lincolnshire but it was not always a wildlife park open to the public. It started off as a private collection.
Andrew Riddel, one of the owners of Wolds Wildlife Park gave his wife a present in 2013. And that present was a young female, Zebra. Not sure what is wrong with flowers and chocolates. But as presents go, that is one spectacular present to give to a loved one. The private collection grew and then in 2018, Tracy Walter and Andrew Riddel opened their Lincolnshire wildlife park to the public. Since then, the collection has grown with many of the animals being rehomed from other zoos.
The wildlife park in Lincolnshire is a short drive from Skegness and Horncastle and is located at Louth Rd, Horncastle LN9 5LJ
How To Find Wolds Wildlife Park
If you are staying in Skegness on holiday then the Lincolnshire Zoo is only a 30-minute drive away, or if you are staying in Cleethorpes then it’s 40 minutes away. It is easy to find unless you have a satnav like mine. Just put in LN9 5LJ, and your satnav will take you straight there. The Lincolnshire zoo is on Louth Rd, Horncastle.

My Wolds Wildlife Park Review
I was so excited about visiting the Wolds Wildlife park that I drove right past the entrance. To be honest, I blame the satnav.
When me and my daughter pulled up in the car park, I was not sure what animals we would get to see. One thing I don’t do when I do reviews is to read other people’s reviews. So, when I agreed to do a review of Wolds Wildlife Park, I made sure that I was going there with my own opinion and no one else’s.
When me and my daughter walked through the gates we were amazed. I couldn’t believe the way it was all set out and how clean it was. We had our map and before we went to see any of the animals, we looked on the map to see which animals we wanted to see first. For me, the first animal I wanted to see was the African Lion. There is something incredible about lions.
It is incredible to think that there are only around 23,000 – 39,000 African Lions left. I know, it’s not safe to get in a cage with them, but they look so cute and cuddly. It would be a dream to feed them. It is incredible to think that the roar of an African Lion can be heard up to five miles away. For me, the African Lions are the draw attraction at the popular Lincolnshire Zoo.
After we visited the African Lions then we decided which way we would walk around the zoo, so we didn’t miss anything. My daughter loved the Bactrian Camels, and they were great. To be honest, one of them looked like one of my old teachers. Not saying who, but he will know who he is.

The Bengal Tigers were so much fun. There was a young lad kicking a ball to his dad, and each time he kicked it, the tiger ran in the same direction. It was incredible to watch, until the Bengal Tiger got bored and walked off.
The Eurasian Brown Bears were another of my favourites. They look so strong, and for me they seem very intelligent. To be honest, they were camera shy. They seemed more interested playing in the pool than coming to say hello. But I do understand as it was a hot day.
One thing that I was really impressed about at the wildlife park was the way it was set out, especially the enclosures. The way the enclosures have been designed, it showed that the owners really cared about the animals. The enclosures allowed me to feel like I was really close to the animals, and they enabled me to see everything they were doing.
With over 230 animals, there are some amazing animals to see which includes the Red-Necked Wallaby, South American Coati, Zebra, Bearded Saki, Pig-Tailed Macaque, and so many more. You don’t have to worry about getting hungry. There are places to have something to eat and drink
Our last visit was to see Dromedary Camels. They were incredible. Before we left, we made sure we visited the Souvenir shop, which was very reasonably priced.
It is clear as you walk around the zoo that the owners have a passion for animals. It was sad leaving the Lincolnshire Zoo, as we had a great day out, but we will be returning.

My Wolds Wildlife Review Conclusion
I have read reviews about the Lincolnshire Zoo which said on average you could spend two hours there. Not sure why they said that. You could easily spend half a day or even a full day there. There is so much to see and do that you don’t have to rush.
Children will love the zoo. But you don’t have to have children to go and visit. You could go on your own, or as a couple, it’s not just for families.
It was a great day out at the wildlife park. Lincolnshire must be proud of it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have an amazing day out. It is reasonably priced, and that includes how much it costs to go into the zoo as well as the food and drink prices.
I was surprised to find out a few days after visiting the Wolds Wildlife Park that it was featured on TV. Ross Kemp visited the zoo as part of Britain’s Tiger Kings, where the owners Andrew Riddel and Tracy Walters showcased their zoo.
If you are looking for a great day out, then I would highly recommend the Wolds Wildlife Park.
